Healthy aphrodisiac foods you need to know, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and even if you’re not a fan of this holiday, the atmosphere of love and pink hearts all around is unavoidable. We tell you about healthy products that are not only very, very tasty but also quickly awaken inner passion and desire. And then it’s up to you to decide whether to direct them toward your loved one or toward your creative realization.
What are aphrodisiac foods and how are they useful?
If you have been reading us for a long time, then you probably already know that food is not just a way to be full and control your weight, but also something that shapes our health from the inside. There is food that invigorates; there is food that grounds and calms; there is food that takes so much energy that after eating it you only want to sleep. And there are aphrodisiacs – substances and products that increase libido, or, in other words, sexual desire.
Their name comes from the Greek goddess Aphrodite, who ruled beauty and love and was responsible for fertility and constant spring. Although Aphrodite is most often associated with love and beauty, first and foremost she was a creator who supported the birth of something new in this world. So sexual energy is first and foremost the energy of creativity, the desire to live and create something beautiful. By regularly incorporating the aphrodisiac foods we’ll talk about in this article into your diet, you’ll not only be able to add passion to what’s happening behind closed bedroom doors, but you’ll also feel more inspired and creative. Luckily, most of these foods are also plant-based.
Avocado
At How to Green, we can’t imagine our life without avocado. Imagine our joy when we learned that this wonderful fruit is not only good for your skin, hormones, and mood but has also long been considered a product that increases reproductive function. This is quite logical: a healthy hormonal system is the basis for a healthy libido, and beautiful skin and hair certainly increase self-confidence and attractiveness.
Chili peppers
These red-hot little ones literally warm us from the inside, improve blood flow, and make the heart beat faster – this state is very similar to sexual arousal. Chili also participates in the creation of endorphins, and a good mood is a guarantee that everything that is done is done with pleasure.
Coffee
Although coffee is a rather controversial drink in its benefits, we at How to Green can rarely resist a cup of aromatic, quality coffee, especially with homemade nut milk. Recent studies have found that coffee is very, very useful for male potency and sexual health. Yet another reason to brew this invigorating drink for your loved one in the morning.
Chocolate and Strawberry
Each of these two ingredients is full of useful properties on its own, and together they merge into a sensual bomb of taste that will help Valentine’s Day pass even more pleasantly. Cocoa is one of the oldest known aphrodisiacs, used by the ancient Aztecs and members of the Mayan tribe. But remember that only unroasted cocoa beans are useful, and it is better to choose chocolate from them without any sugar at all.
Honey
Another ancient aphrodisiac was prescribed for sexual health by Hippocrates. And it is not for nothing that the first month after the wedding is called honey. Traditionally, the newlyweds drank a special fermented honey drink for the first days after the wedding, which created a special mood, without intoxicating the newlyweds.
Oysters
Oysters are perhaps the most famous aphrodisiac. These shellfish, especially raw, are rich in amino acids involved in the creation of female and male sex hormones. The tradition of eating oysters with wine or champagne is certainly beautiful, but excessive amounts of alcohol are more likely to harm the romantic mood. Oysters also contain a large amount of zinc, involved in the creation of testosterone, which greatly supports a healthy male libido.
Pumpkin and flaxseed oils
Cold-pressed oils, in particular pumpkin and flaxseed, deserve special mention. Pumpkin oil is a treasure trove of benefits, especially for men. Numerous studies show that regular consumption of this oil has a healing effect on the prostate, normalizing all metabolic processes, and even helping with cancer of this gland. Pumpkin oil also restores the liver and promotes healthy metabolism and digestion. A healthy gastrointestinal tract is the basis of our overall health and good mood.
Flaxseed oil is a female aphrodisiac. It contains the optimal combination of omega-3 and omega-6, normalizes hormonal metabolism, has a beneficial effect on digestion, and reduces cholesterol levels. Try adding flaxseed oil to your food every day and warn your loved one that he, in turn, should lean on pumpkin oil so that your desires coincide.
Adaptogens
In addition to whole foods and oils, adaptogens are powerful aphrodisiacs. We have already written about what they are here. In terms of their ability to increase sexual desire, maca, mucuna, cordyceps mushrooms, and ginseng are considered the most effective. Now most adaptogens are quite easy to find in online stores and health food stores. They can be added to porridge and smoothies, and even a small amount can have a noticeable healing effect and increase libido in both women and men.
Valentine’s Day Chocolate Recipe
We suggest that you immediately apply the knowledge you have gained and prepare a very simple and delicious chocolate for Valentine’s Day, which will include several aphrodisiac products from our list and will be the perfect gift for this romantic holiday.
Ingredients (for 4-6 servings):
- 1/4 cup coconut oil,
- 1/4 cup ghee,
- 1 cup cocoa powder from unroasted cocoa beans,
- 1/4 cup honey,
- 1.5 tbsp ground cocoa beans,
- adaptogens of your choice (the simplest option is ground cinnamon, nutmeg and a pinch of chili), our choice is 1 tsp. mucuna powder, 2 tsp. ashwagandha or Indian ginseng, 2 tsp. maca powder.
Method of preparation:
Melt the coconut oil and ghee in a double boiler. Remove from heat, stir in the cocoa powder, all the adaptogens, and honey, and mix thoroughly. We like the chocolate to be not too sweet, but you can add more honey if you like. Pour into a glass or metal baking dish, sprinkle with ground cocoa beans, and freeze for 20 minutes. Using a knife, carefully remove the chocolate from the mold and break it into random pieces.
